Meet the Framer: Anthon Burbidge - "My Passion Runs Deep for Timber."
Born and raised in the PNW and surrounded by some of the worlds most gorgeous forests, my passion for timber runs deep...
I’ve always been drawn to the craftsmanship of old custom timber work and have watched its methods fade from the world.
I’ve studied and learned the old school ways of joinery mortise and tenton and have taken that knowledge and turned it into a professional trade with timber framing 14yrs ago.
Been perfecting it ever since.
Something unique about us is we love to teach people who take interest in what we do and teach them some of these old school techniques.
We have high school shop classes that come spend time with us.
And have young and old come apprentice during the summer and beyond to share our knowledge with those who have the same passion.
How’d you get into the industry?
I started as a General Contractor running framing crews and with the ups and downs in the economy, decided I wanted to be more niche and found my place in timber framing.
What makes you excited about the future of construction?
It’s fun to see so many people getting excited about timber framing through social media and other platforms.
I feel like it’s just going to get bigger and better!
Do you have a mantra that you live by?
“There’s no fun like work!”
This has been passed down from generation to generation in my family and holds true for my family as well.
Where can people connect with you?
