Meet the Owner: Diamondback Toolbelt's CEO - "There's a generation shift in play."
It all started with Jim Skelton's plan to build a tool belt that would support his bad back 25 years ago.
Work better, feel better.
And Diamondback's mission is to improve the lives of people in the trades through efficient organization and ergonomics. ⠀
How'd you get into the trades?
I have always been close to construction.
My father and grandfather were general contractors.
I worked on sites from the time I could swing a hammer until college.
I went to law school and followed that by developing a passion for woodworking and representing clients in construction disputes.
Before buying Diamondback, I was practicing law part-time and remodeling houses.
How'd you get into the trades?
What makes you most excited about the future of construction?
There is a generational shift in play.
New entrants to the trades are more interested in developing their skills and paying attention to the toll that construction can take on the body.
"Most critically, this new generation is willing to invest in technology to make them more successful."
At Diamondback we work to funnel that energy into new products that enhance efficiency and promote physical well-being.⠀
What's your mantra?
As we work through the pains of the corona virus pandemic, I keep telling myself "Lemonade."
Life has given us some pretty rough lemons, but we need to make the most of it.
My father always said "It is what it is".
That is not resignation, but acceptance.
You can't beat a challenge until you accept it for what it is. Only then can you make the effort to overcome.
Where can people connect with you?
