Meet the General Contractor: TJ Snowdon - "Lead by Example."

My dad was a metal tradesman and a real mans man...

I spent a lot of time with him.

He showed how to use all kinds of tools from woodwork to vehicle repairs and everything in between.

In high school, I worked in a restaurant.

A great experience to learn how to work at a fast pace until the job was done.

I was offered a job to join a smaller scale framing crew right after I graduated. ⠀

I thought I'd try it out until I decided what I wanted to do for a living.

I started building multifamily units.

And I think my athletic background helped me pick up the trade fast.

I realized my work ethic went a long way in this industry. I was advancing along quickly.

In 2007, at the age of 21, I was offered a large project by my boss to frame buildings.

I incorporated my company right away and hired 2 employees.

A couple months later I had 6 employees, was hammering out buildings and having an absolute blast.

The recession of 2008 hit before I had a chance to get any traction, and it hurt. But we powered through it.

And in 2012 we were running 2 tele-handlers, a crane and employing nearly 50 employees, strictly framing and forming mostly large apartment and townhouse complexes.

13 years into business, we're rolling! Focusing mostly on custom, commercial and renovation projects.

I love passing the pride of trade and positivity on to everyone that works for me.

My business is nothing without a strong group and I have very solid crew that has become tight over the years.

Even thought I didn't know exactly what that looked like when I was younger, I'm now living my dream!

What makes you excited about the future of construction?

"The advances in building sciences and technology excites me the most about the future of the industry."

So many new developments, products and tools coming out all the time.

In the 15 years I've been in construction, so much has changed.

I'm a generation that got to see a bit of the old school and now here for the start of the building science era.

What's your mantra?

Lead by example! Positivity and hard work prevails.

These qualities and attitude have gotten me to where I am today. And I'll continue to help expand my business every year.
